Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 June 2026

India Wants ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the platform, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

We collect the minimum information needed to verify citizenship and operate the platform: name, email, mobile number, state/district, age band, gender (optional), and a hashed Aadhaar reference. We never store your raw Aadhaar number.

2. How we use your information

Your data is used to: (a) verify one-citizen-one-vote integrity, (b) compute weighted demand scores, (c) personalise your feed, (d) notify you about demands you support, and (e) publish anonymised, aggregated statistics on the platform.

3. How we store your information

All data is stored on servers located in India and encrypted at rest and in transit. Aadhaar references are one-way hashed and salted; raw identifiers are discarded immediately after verification.

4. Sharing of information

We never sell your data. We share only anonymised, aggregated insights publicly. We disclose personal information only when legally compelled by Indian courts or regulators, and we will notify you wherever permitted.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use first-party cookies for session management and privacy-respecting analytics. No third-party advertising trackers are used.

6. Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your account at any time from Dashboard → Settings. Deletion removes your profile, demands and comments within 7 days; votes are retained in anonymised form to preserve historical record integrity.

7. Children

India Wants is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

8. Changes to this policy

We will notify all registered users of material changes at least 14 days before they take effect.
